The Attorney General's Office in American Samoa has confirmed that the Governor, Togiola Tulafono, has signed a warrant of arrest to extradite Thomas Siaumau to Hawai'i to face state criminal charges.

The Hawai'i charges surfaced last Friday when 19-year old Siaumau was sentenced to 20 months in jail for his role in the stoning in April this year of police vehicles responding to a call for public assistance.

The Assistant Attorney General Charles Lee said Siaumau was charged with criminal property damage in the first degree, terroristic threatening in the first degree and assault in the third degree.

Mr Lee says in accordance with the American Samoa statutes, the governor issued a Warrant of Arrest and for Extradition in response to the Hawaii Governor's Warrant.

It's unclear if Siaumau will be extradited to Hawai'i as he is serving jail time in American Samoa.
