Change at American Samoa chamber of commerce

1:26 pm on 19 January 2010

American Samoa's Chamber of Commerce has voted to change its constitution.

The roles of president and vice president have been abolished and replaced by the role of chairman and vice chairman.

And the next board of directors has been reduced from eleven to at least seven.

The chairman of the Chamber, Joey Cummings, says the reformed constitution will vastly improve the chamber's efficiency.

"There were certain things in it whenever it was created in the 1970s that needed to be updated or just needed to be changed."

Joey Cummings says halting the minimum wage increases remains one of its priority goals.
