Lawmakers in American Samoa still want more information on Governor Togiola Tulafono's 5 million US proposal to purchase assets of the Chicken of the Sea Samoa Packing cannery.

Governor Togiola Tulafono returned to American Samoa last week following meetings in Thailand and Honolulu.

In Bangkok, he met with Thai Union/Chicken of the Sea Incorporated board member to discuss the future of the COS Samoa Packing facilities in American Samoa.

But House Representative, Galu Satele, says they need more information about the proposal.

He says while he supports the Governor's idea, he thinks other options should also be looked at.

"We have also suggested that instead of looking outside, why don't we just look at the company that is still here and see if they are interested in expanding, that would be a viable situation, we don't have to spend money for because they will spend the money. But like I said, we are not in opposition we are just asking for more information so that we can make a viable decision."
