Solomons MPs to consider political reforms from later this week

2:58 pm on 8 February 2010

The Solomon Islands Prime Minster, Dr Derek Sikua, has announced the final sitting of the current National Parliament on March 11th.

He says the Government will table six more bills including a Constitutional Amendment Bill and a Political Parties Integrity Bill.

The Government will need an absolute majority in the 50 seat parliament to pass the Constitutional Amendment Bill, but a simple majority of those present for the Integrity Bill.

Dr Sikua says his coalition has 41 MPs working together, but he admits it is not always easy to get them to support government backed matters.
