Fiji regime appoints new representative to UN

The Fiji interim regime has appointed a former permanent secretary to the late president Ratu Penaia Ganilau, Peter Thomson, as its representative to the United Nations in New York.

Mr Thomson, who has a background in diplomacy and consulting, is expected to take up the position later this month.

Mr Thomson is also the author of the book 'Kava in the Blood' about Fiji affairs and politics at the time of the first military coups in 1987.
