Fiji's interim govt says Bainimarama will stand down as PM in 2014

The interim government in Fiji says Commodore Frank Bainimarama will stand down as Prime Minister when elections are held in 2014, but will remain as commander of the military.

The statement clarifies reports that the Commodore had said he would retire in 2014.

The Permanent Secretary for Information, Lieutenant Colonel Neumi Leweni told Fiji Village Commodore Bainimarama will step down as intnerim Prime Minister, but stay on with the military to ensure reforms mplemented by his regime are followed by the administration that takes power after the 2014 election.
