The South African High Commission in Fiji is to facilitate the pairing up of local construction companies with their counterparts in South Africa.

The Fiji Times reports High Commissioner Hlaliso Qomoyi as saying South Africa intends to help Fiji in three areas -- infrastructure, education and its correctional service.

He says Fiji needs help with road works, and South Africa has companies that are skilled experts in road building.

He says the High Commission can facilitate the pairing up of those companies with ones in Fiji.

My Qomoyi says the relationship would be beneficial to the local company in terms of getting skilled persons to help local builders.

He says the move is reflective of South Africa's interest in further strengthening diplomatic relations with Fiji.
