10:00 pm on 3 March 2010

The Vanuatu Government and police have finally granted permission for the Vanuatu Free West Papua Association to hold a march this Friday.

The Government cancelled the march last week, saying the organisers had not sought official approval in time.

The president of the Association, Pastor Alan Nafuki, says he's now received approval from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Moana Carcases and the Police Commissioner, Joshua Bong.

The Association is planning to present a petition to the national council of chiefs

It has five thousand signatures to date and in support of West Papua self determination.
