PNG PM banks on new forum to fight HIV spread

The Papua New Guinea Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, says a new online forum for youth will spread the message about HIV/AIDS.

Sir Michael launched the forum, an initiative of former Health Minister, Sir Peter Barter, at a function at the Divine Word University last week.

He says the forum is a commendable move in a country where issues relating to sex have been taboo.

Sir Michael says the extent of HIV is growing exponentially and Papua New Guineans must adapt to try and contain the disease's spread.

He says open forums like this website will allow the public, especially PNG's young people who are most vulnerable, to get informed as well as share experiences on the virus.
