Guam launches new local beer brand

4:30 pm on 11 March 2010

A locally branded beer has been launched in Guam, hoping to bring the "spirit of the island" to tourists.

The beer is being brewed in South Korea, but was created for the local market.

James Castro of MidPac Distributors says Guam has more than a million visitors a year, and they'd like each of them to take some home as a souvenir.

"Guam stands for family, party, fun. We wanted to present something that can make our visitors enjoy out culture, our culture is inviting, traditional, our people are proud of our heritage, so we wanted to create it to spread our message to enjoy Guam's spirit, talk about their experiences when they were here on Guam how much joy they had when they were here on Guam."

James Castro says they've already had locals interested in buying the beer.
