Taiwan's President won't meet Obama when both are on Guam

Taiwan's President Ma Ying-jeou has dismissed speculation that he could meet his United States counterpart, Barack Obama, when they are both in Guam next week.

Mr Ma is scheduled to stop over in Guam on March the 21st en route to a visit to Taiwan's allies in the South Pacific.

President Obama is also scheduled to be in Guam on the same day, sparking speculation that the two leaders might meet.

But Mr Ma insists he is merely making a stop-over in Guam before he makes his first visit to the Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Tuvalu, Nauru, Solomon Islands and Palau.
