Employers in American Samoa to benefit from a new jobs bill

Employers in American Samoa will benefit from a new jobs bill that President Barack Obama has signed into law.

There are no benefits for employees in the Hiring Incentives to restore Employment or HIRE Act, which is aimed at creating new jobs.

The Tax Office Manager, Melvin Joseph, says employers will not have to pay the six point two percent Social Security tax for any new employees who have been out of work for at least 60 days.

The bill also gives employers a one thousand dollar tax credit for each new worker if they're kept on the payroll for a full year.
