A Tongan community group spokesperson says the media in Tonga is yet to report on the Royal Commission's report on the sinking of the Princess Ashika, but she's confident it won't be swept under the carpet.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry presented its report to the King of Tonga and the country's Privy Council yesterday, but it will not be released to the public in Tonga before next Tuesday.
That's despite the international media reporting on its findings that there was a systematic failure by Government in buying a boat that was unseaworthy.
Ofakilevuka Guttenbeil Likiliki from the Women's and Children's Crisis Centre says most people in Tonga can only anticipate the report's content.
"No-one here's seen it because we only have weekly newspapers and they come at the end of the week, and the broadcast, the TV and radio broadcast its in monopoly with government so they won't publish it or broadcast it either before then."
But Ofakilevuka Guttenbeil Likiliki says the report has been distributed to people's representatives so she does not believe its contents can be covered up.
