Japan has donated 500 blankets and 100 tents to Fiji's emergency relief effort for victims of Cyclone Tomas.

The Fiji Times reports the Disaster Management Office's acting director saying items worth 100,000 US dollars will be sent on the next available ships to affected people in the Northern and Eastern divisions.

Pajiliai Dobui says government ships will be used to deliver the supplies to the Eastern division and ferry boats from Consort and Bligh Water Shipping will be used for the Northern division distribution.
