A 27 year old Samoa man has been charged in connection with the country's first armed bank robbery.

Four masked men robbed a branch of the Westpac bank in the Vaitele industrial zone last week.

Police say more than a hundred thousand US dollars were stolen.

The assistant police commissioner, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, says the man is from the villages of Falelauniu and Vaitele fou.

Police are calling on the public for information that will lead to the arrest of the other three suspects.
