Tonga's Solicitor-General, Aminiasi Kefu, says he's feeling honoured and privileged to have been awarded the New Zealand Prime Minister's Fellowship.

The Fellowship was established in 2008 as a coronation gift to King George Tupou V and Mr Kefu is currently in New Zealand to meet with a range of people.

He says there'll be a number of things he wants to achieve this year.

"Everyone understanding what's happening in Tonga. Hopefully set up training arrangements between our offices in Tonga and and our counterparts here, such as the prosecuting authorities, legal advisors and also the legislative draft, as I hold all those three roles for government and just learning from them on how they are developing their offices."

Aminiasi Kefu says there'll be many benefits for Tonga through the Fellowship
