Strong earthqauke in PNG causes some damage but no casualties

A strong earthquake in Papua New Guinea yesterday is reported to have damaged some houses, but there are no reports of casualities.

The 6.3 magnitude quake in the Hidden Valley gold and silver mine area caused cracks in buildings and a damaged water tank , near the town of Lae.

A seismologist at PNG's Geophysical Observatory in Port Moresby, Lawrence Anton told the AAP newsagency the earthquake was strongly felt, mostly in the Wau and Bulolo areas.
