A 26-year-old soldier from Yap in the Federated of Micronesia has been killed in Afghanistan.
United States Army Specialist, Eric Finniginam, died May 1 of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province.
Guam's Pacific Daily News says Finniginam is the 35th service member from the Micronesia region to die while supporting U.S. wars since 2003.
Last year, Finniginam was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for valor.
He is survived by his wife and their 1-year-old daughter.
