The Samoan rugby sevens team have arrived in London and sit on the brink of an historic maiden world title.

With two legs remaining Samoa have a 3-point lead over New Zealand in the IRB Sevens Series standings, helped by three consecutive tournament victories at Las Vegas, Adelaide and Hong Kong.

Team coach, Stephen Beetham, says they've had a few injuries of late and have been focusing on recovering.

He says the squad is now fully fit, although he was keen to downplay his side's chances of victory.

"It's hard to say - I think all the other teams will be looking to finish off with a win. We'll be aiming for the same thing but we just have to wait and see. I think it's very crucial that we take the right options at the right time."

Samoa's first match is against the United States on Saturday and Stephen Beetham says they'll provide them with a good early test.
