Two Fiji police charged over commissioner plot remanded in custody

Two former high-ranking Fiji police officers have been remanded in police custody on charges of conspiring to remove the police commissioner from his position.

The two men appeared in court in Suva this afternoon.

"One of the men is a former assistant commissioner of police and the other the former director of the national intelligence bureau. They are charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, in attempting remove the commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni from his position. Both pleaded not guilty, and will reappear on Monday. A police spokeswoman, Ema Dimila, says police are still investigating whether any other officers were involved."
