Attacks on Friday and Saturday on police and soldiers at a military post in the Indonesia province of Papua have left several officers injured.

The Jakarta Post reports a police spokesperson saying suspect members of the separatist Free Papua Organization, the OPM, were behind the attacks in the highland regency of Puncak Jaya.

The spokesperson says the attacks on the military post might be related to a raid by Indonesian security personnel on an OPM base recently in which a suspected rebel leader was killed.

The raids come after OPM rebels were blamed for the deaths of three construction workers last month.
