Palau's Minister of Health, Stevenson Kuartei, is to ban betelnut chewing at the Ministry for Health.
Betelnut chewing is one of the leading causes of tooth and gum problems and the Minister believes it's time the Ministry made a stand.
He intends making the Ministry, its hospital, clinics and all vehicles betelnut chew-free zones.
He says the Ministry will try to mobilise the community to understand and pick a time, in six months to a one year, when they can declare a ban on betelnut chewing.
