Donors work to improve transport links on Solomon Islands' Guadalcanal

The Asian Development Bank, along with the New Zealand and Australian Governments, is helping restore essential transport links between Honiara and West Guadalcanal in Solomon Islands.

Grants from Australia and New Zealand will be used to reconnect communities in West Guadalcanal to clinics, schools, and markets in Honiara.

Severe weather and a series of floods earlier this year damaged roads and bridges in the west and severely disrupted transport services.

The assistance is being channeled through the ADB's Solomon Islands Road Improvement Project.
