8:32 am on 26 May 2010

Most of the Northern Marianas executive branch employees affected by cuts to their work hours have now begun new seven hours a day rosters.

Close to 400 workers are involved in the cuts made to reduce government spending.

The one-hour daily cuts reduce the hours in each two week pay period from 80 to 70.

It means a 12 point 5-percent salary cut.

Some Government workers remain exempt from the work hour cuts, after the Senate rejected the Governor's austerity bill.
