The Fiji High Court has granted an application by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to suppress certain information in the case against two senior police officers charged with mutiny.
The two former directors of Police Intelligence Branch, Berenando Daveta and Rusiate Tuidravu, are alleged to have tried to remove the Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni.
Fijivillage website says the DPP lawyer, Ana Tuikitei, made the application to stop the media reporting on the evidence given by Head of Investigations SSP Waisea Tabakau during the bail hearing.
However, Mr Tuidravu's lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry objected, saying there already are restrictions on the media and that this would shut down freedom of the press.
But Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando granted the order to suppress the information for national security reasons.
