American Samoa students correspond with President Obama

Students at Manumalo Baptist school in American Samoa have recieved a letter form United States President, Barack Obama.

When they read that President Obama was traveling to the Pacific the third grade class wrote to the president asking that he stopover in American Samoa, including an offer of accomodation from one student.

The class's teacher, Pua Ifopo Mamea, says there were screams and squeals of laughter when they saw the president's signature on the letter.

Ms. Mamea recited the president's letter for KHJ News.

"Dear students, thank you for your kind note. Your thoughtful words join a chorus of millions of Americans who are eager to lead our nation towards a brighter tomorrow. Each day I'm inspired by the encouraging messages of hope and determination I have recieved from students across the country. America needs young people like you who are studying hard in school, serving your community and dreamin big dreams."
