The province of Ba has acknowledged the inclusion of the dress code in the draft village by-laws which is being deliberated on by the villagers of the province.

The planned by-laws are designed to combat unwelcome behaviour at the village level and include provisions over what women can wear and a curfew for young people.

Fiji Village reports the chairman of Ba Provincial Council, Ratu Meli Saukuru as saying he believes that it is proper to dress up in a decent way when people approach or are in a village.

107 villages in the 21 districts are currently deliberating on the draft by-laws before they put together their submissions before the 25th of this month.
