The All White football team's draw with reigning world champions Italy has made headlines around the world and helped put the Pacific region in the spotlight.

The New Zealand side drew 1-all with Italy after also drawing 1-all with Slovakia in its first match in South Africa.

The deputy secretary of the Oceania Football Confederation, Greg Larsen, says the All Whites' efforts have greatly boosted the region's profile in the game much to the delight of fans and players throughout the Pacific and showed that nothing is impossible.

"I think over the last 18 to 24 months, there's been a huge change in football in the Oceania region. I think while New Zealand is doing extremely well in World Cups, that also there's an opportunity for every island in the Oceania region to be successful."

Greg Larsen says it is a wonderful achievement to savour.
