Three villages on the Samoa island of Savaii have just received the third lease payment from a US company that's leasing customary land for a major hotel development.
The payment received is 120,000 US dollars
The villages of Sasina, Fagae'e and Letui signed a 120 year lease with the company three years ago which increases by ten percent every five years.
Six hundred acres of village land is being leased to build a six hundred room hotel, culture center and golf course.
Village MP, La'aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polata'ivao, told the Talamua Online news service a ground breaking ceremony is planned for December.
The hotel development project has the Government's support.
