Fiji's interim Prime Minister says the "Engaging Fiji" meeting which starts today signifies the strength of the Pacific Islands.
The meeting was called by the regime after the Melanesian Spearhead Group-Plus summit was deferred.
The regime says the Prime Ministers of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu, and the President of Kiribati will attend.
Fiji Live reports Commodore Frank Bainimarama is expected to host a welcoming reception for the delegates prior to formally addressing them at the opening ceremony.
He says he believes that the Pacific countries have their own style and a strong history of working together.
He says he expects a good reception at the meeting for the Fiji situation as he says the interim government has been honest, open and transparent.
