There's confidence that the Northern Marianas Government will find the money needed to fund elections due in November.
The poll is in doubt because the financially stricken CNMI government has so far not been able to source the necessary funding.
The Election Commission estimates the elections will cost 128-thousand US dollars.
Our correspondent, Mark Rabago, says while the CNMI government is struggling financially, it's constitutionally obliged to hold the poll.
"The Government will do something, will find some resources to plug in and enable the elections to come because it's the constitution, it's mandated that they do it on November, so, I don't see the possibility of not having it. They just have to find a source of money and appropriation for that."
Mark Rabago says the government is implementing a business growth revenue tax before the election, and could use that money to fund it.
