A former Fiji Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry, has this afternoon been charged with tax evasion and money laundering.
The interim Government's media arm, the Ministry of Information, issued a release this morning saying he was interviewed yesterday by the criminal investigations department and then released.
In a further statement it says charges have now been laid by Fiji Police and Mr Chaudhry is now in police custody and is expected to appear in court in Suva this afternoon.
