All existing bank account holders in Fiji will now be required to provide their Tax Identification Number to their banks under a new requirement imposed by FIRCA.

Fiji Village reports that from next month, it will be mandatory for all employers to ensure that their employees are registered for tax and have a TIN.

Also effective from August 15th, anyone who opens a bank account, undertakes any transaction with the Land Transport Authority and registers a business with the registrar of Companies is required to submit their Tax Identification number.

Under the new requirements, existing bank account holders have to provide their TIN number to their banks before the end of the year.
