Pacific delegates who attended a meeting on the United Nations Covention against Corruption have shown enthusiasm to report on the benefits of the convention to their respective governments.

Representatives from 14 Pacific nations met in Apia in Samoa last week, to identify their priorities in regards to their ratification and implementation of UNCAC, as well as their challenges and technical assistance needs.

The United Nations Development Programme says a common priority for countries was the need to assess their status in compliance with the convention, including identifying gaps in existing legislation and areas for reform.

It says the most significant challenge identified, was the need to build strong political will at home to adhere to the convention.
