Forum chair says continued engagement with Fiji essential

Vanuatu's Prime Minister, says Pacific island nations have a responsibility to remain engaged with Fiji to ensure democracy is restored there.

Edward Natapei told the Pacific Islands Forum leaders summit in Port Vila that it's essential to engage with Fiji, which was suspended from the body 15 months ago.

Mr Natapei, who has assumed the chairmanship of the Forum, says the leaders of Pacific Island nations have a duty and responsibility to remain engaged with Fiji so that democratic principles and practices can be restored as soon as possible.
