A New Caledonian delegation has been in Vanuatu since last Friday hoping to encourage Pacific Islands Forum countries to allow it to become a full member of the regional body.

The delegation, which includes the New Caledonian president Phillipe Gomez and the former president of FLNKS, Roch Wamytan, has met with a number of the leaders in Port Vila.

The New Caledonian lobbyists last year travelled to Canberra to seek Australia's for full membership.

New Caledonia is currently an associate member of the Forumm as is French Polynesia.
