Low water levels in some Samoan villages

Water supply to several Samoan villages is at a low level as dry conditions prevail.

Rationing has been imposed on the worst affected village of Vailele, east of the

capital Apia.

Fagali'i-uta and Si'iusega, west of Apia, are also affected.

The chief executive of Samoa Water Authority, Ta'inau Titimaea, says some treatment plants are at low levels and this is limiting the water supply.

He says a new plant to address supply problems in Vailele and parts of Fagali'i in the dry season is planned to be built with EU finding by next July.
