Nine people facing charges of unlawful assembly and breaching aviation security in Vanuatu have been released on bail.

The suspects, who appeared in court last week, were charged after they tried to prevent an Air Vanuatu plane leaving the international airport on Tanna to return to the capital Port Vila.

The action of the 9 forced forced Air Vanuatu to cancel the service on Tanna for a few hours.

The registrar of Vanuatu Courts says the group will appear again in court next week.
