Pacific Investment Summit identifies business opportunities

An investment summit between Pacific business owners and policy makers has helped identify opportunities within the region for increased employment and economic growth.

Last week, 150 delegates were brought together by a Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat initiative in Sydney.

One of the organisers of the summit, Caleb Jarvis, says there are many opportunities in the Pacific, such as Papua New Guinea's energy development projects, for increasing employment and growing economies.

"If these businesses grow, they will have the opportunities to create more employment within the countries that they operate in and the communities in which they operate, and that is going to help alleviate poverty."

Caleb Jarvis says the Pacific Investment Summit will become an annual event, and in future years will focus more on creating business partnerships.
