The American Samoa Power Authority says its disagreement with its insurance company over claims for damages from last year's tsunami may go to court.
The chairman of the ASPA board, Asaua Fuimaono, has told a Senate hearing that ASPA has disputed the figures provided by its insurer, Lloyds of London.
The policy covers ASPA property including the millions of dollars worth of generators that were damaged at the Satala power plant .
Asaua says the company is prepared to file a lawsuit, having earlier hoped to get money from the insurance claim to cover some of the repair costs.
ASPA officials also revealed during the hearing that a decision has been made to rebuild the new power plant at the existing site in Satala.
