CNMI Election Commission receives funds to pay for November's poll

The Election Commission in the Northern Marianas has this week received 35,000 US dollars to help pay for this year's poll for the CNMI delegate to the US Congress.

Another 30,000 is due on October the 1st.

The CNMI government is financially struggling and has not been able to meet the Commission's proposed budget of 100,000 US dollars.

The money will go towards public education and to print ballots.

The remainder will go towards the salaries of polling officials on election day, on November 2nd.

The 200 workers will get 50 dollars each.
