Vanuatu's former honorary consul in Singapore, Alex Chung, is reportedly wanted by police in both countries.
Vanuatu police say they have received a request from their Singapore counterparts for assistance locating Mr Chung who disappeared after celebrations for Vanuatu's 30th independence anniversary at the end of July.
Mr Chung, who has had several prominent business ventures in Port Vila, is understood to be on the run from Vanuatu police due to allegedly importing illegal quantities of fireworks.
Vanuatu police allege that some government ministers received undeclared funds to allow the importation.
Mr Chung was terminated as honorary consul at the beginning of the year.
