A charter plane carrying five Australian holidaymakers has been forced to make an emergency landing on a beach in Papua New Guinea.

The small, single engine plane believed to have been carrying five Victorians on a scuba-diving holiday landed on the coast near Alotau, in Milne Bay province, yesterday.

No one was injured and the plane is said to be undamaged with the local police commander calling it a minor incident.
