Tonga searching for big win

12:04 pm on 4 October 2010

Tonga need a big win over Papua New Guinea today to see them qualify for the semi finals of the Oceania Women's Nations Cup football competition.

PNG have already qualified for the last four while New Zealand and Cook Islands are through after both posted victories yesterday.

Coach Kilifi Uele says his side need goals to improve their points differential against second-placed Solomon Islands and he's encouraging his players to push forward.

"Our players need to be more focused and concentrate from the beginning of the game. We were working basically on the attacking possibility and then I they can concern how we play to face against Papua New Guinea who is the top team."

The Solomon Islands coach Timothy Inifiri is confident, however, that his team can ward off Tonga's late challenge with a win over Fiji in today's other fixture.

A win is a definite - we have to win today to qualify us through to the semis. I think we've got a plan to play them today, what we want to do. They can play for 15-20 minutes but after that, I think fitness-wise, they're not up there.
