Papua New Guinea swimmer Ryan Pini says he's satisfied with his efforts in Delhi, which culminated with a silver medal in his specialist event.
Pini won gold in the 100 metre butterfly four years ago, and ended in a dead-heat for second this time around with England's Anthony James.
Pini suffered from a cold in Delhi, which forced him to withdraw from the 100 metre freestyle semi-final and pace himself in the early rounds of the fly.
He says it was never going to be easy defending his title and all things considered he's pretty happy to come away with a medal.
"Probably the top six of us at least were very close and with the lead-up with my shoulder and being sick it's quite incredible but i managed to sneak in there. The 50 butterfly and 50 freestyle were both personal bests so on the one hand I'm not feeling to great but then I'm doing personal best times so I'm doing something right."
Ryan Pini says he'll be lucky to have a weeks break after Delhi, and plans to jump back in the pool shortly with the world short-course championships in Dubai in December.
