The Fiji government is dismissing suggestions on blog sites that two senior military officers have been suspended, reiterating that they are using up their entitled leave.
The pair are the Land Force Commander, Brigadier General Pita Driti, and the Commander Lieutenant Colonel Roko Tevita Uluilakeba Mara.
Fiji's permanent secretary for Information, Sharon Smith-Johns, says the army commander, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, asked the officers to take leave as they have accumulated too much of it over the years.
Commodore Bainimarama said there has been nobody appointed to replace Brigadier General Driti as he is only on leave and not suspended, while Lieutenant Colonel Mara has accumulated at least 10 months of leave.
Sharon Smith-Johns says the military is telling officers to use up their leave entitlement or they risk losing it.
