Preparations are complete for the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas' congressional election today.

Over 16-thousand voters have registered to cast their ballots on Saipan, Tinian, Rota, and the Northern Islands from 7 o'clock this morning.

The CNMI Election Commission executive director Robert Guerrero and board chair Frances Sablan said yesterday all ballots- including regular, absentee, and early votes- will be processed and counted manually when polling booths close tonight at 7.

The Saipan Tribune paper reports about US$70,000 has been appropriated for the entire election.

Four candidates are running for the non-voting congressional seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

They are incumbent Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan, former governor Juan Babauta, former lieutenant governor Jesse Borja, and former House floor leader Joseph Camacho .
