7:38 pm on 4 November 2010

A bus company in New Caledonia's capital has threatened to suspend its services on Friday amid concern for the safety of its drivers.

According to Noumea's daily paper, the Karuia company has called on the authorities to act as young people keep throwing rocks at the buses.

The paper says last weekend a child was injured.

The bus company management says if there is an incident of violence or vandalism, all its buses will stop running.
