Reports from Fiji say most of the retail outlets that are selling lamb chops and lamb neck have put a hold on all future orders until the Commerce Commission announces the prices of these products tomorrow.
Fijivillage says the landed cost for chops is higher than the maximum price set by the Commission.
The website reports, however, that some supermarkets are selling lamb chops and lamb neck according to the prices set by the commission.
The Fiji Commerce Commission is threatening shopkeepers with jail if they refuse to stock certain items or charge prices above the recommended level.
However, it has also conceded that shops won't be forced to sell the items concerned at a loss.
