The US Army is working with the LBJ hospital in American Samoa to see how best to serve local army reservists.

The commander of medical operations, Major General Lee P. Chang, who heads the 807th Medical Command Expeditionary Force, says one area that local soldiers need help on is dental work.

He said untreated dental problems can affect a soldier's ability to be deployed.

"In the past, we've had an issue with dental readiness, and medical readiness. My immediate plan is to have a dental team come over here, to evaluate, and do some restoration, for our army reserve soldiers, who require dental care. And we will do that next year some time."
